The Christmas and New Year period is a very busy time of year for just about anyone, and it can be quite difficult to fit in your regular training and recovery schedule between all of your holiday commitments. We’ve put together a few tips that might help you balance your training with the crazy holiday season.
Schedule in specific times to train
It can be easy to get caught up in the craziness of the holiday season, so if you want to make sure you’re getting some training in, put specific times aside in your schedule for it and stick to it.
Alter your training
You’re already most likely going to be pretty busy, and you don’t want to burn yourself out. Make your training sessions a little shorter or less intense so you’re not completely fatigued by the end of it.
Take a break!
It’s also completely okay to take a break from training over the holiday season. Everyone needs a rest at some point, and now is a perfect time to take it. Be sure to listen to your body - a lot of us are already a bit burnt out from a hectic year, so if you need a break, take it. Allowing yourself a couple of weeks off to rest and recharge will probably do more good than pushing through the fatigue and continuing to train.
Remember Your Recovery
Whether you’re training over Christmas or not, scheduling in recovery is important either way. STAR will be open over the holiday season, so come on in for a sauna session, spa soak, cryo session or any of our other services! View our services here.
